Keynote Speakers GEKoS 2020

Robert Edward FREEMAN

University Professor and Elis and Signe Olsson Professor of Business Administration at the Darden School of the University of Virginia, is particularly known for his work on stakeholder theory (1984) and on business ethics. Holds a B.A. in mathematics and philosophy from Duke University a Ph.D. in philosophy from Washington University in 1978. He is also adjunct professor of stakeholder management at the Copenhagen Business School in Denmark, visiting professor at Nyenrode Business School (Netherlands), adjunct professor of management at Monash University (Melbourne). He has held honorary appointments as the Welling Professor at George Washington University and the Gourlay Professorship at University of Melbourne. Prior to coming to the Darden School, Freeman taught at University of Minnesota and the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.

Author or editor of over 30 volumes and 150 articles in the areas of stakeholder management, business strategy and business ethics he is best known for his award winning book: Strategic Management: A Stakeholder Approach (Cambridge, 2010), originally published in 1984, in which he traced the origins of the stakeholder idea.

He was recently awarded honorary doctorates (DHC) in economics from Comillas University in Madrid, the Hanken School of Economics in Helsinki, and an honorary doctorates in management from Radboud University in Nijmegen, Netherlands and Sherbrooke University in Canada for his work on stakeholder theory and business ethics. Throughout his career, he has received a number of teaching awards from the Wharton School, the Carlson School, the University of Virginia Darden School of Business, the State of Virginia and the Academy of Management. He has received Lifetime Achievement Awards from the World Resources Institute and Aspen Institute, the Humboldt University Conference on Corporate Social Responsibility, the Academy of Management and the Society for Business Ethics. He has worked with many executives and companies around the world, and his writing on stakeholder theory has been translated into many languages.

He is also academic director of the Business Roundtable Institute for Corporate Ethics, and director of the Darden's Olsson Center for Applied Ethics. In 1994 Freeman served as president of the Society for Business Ethics. He is one of the executive editors of the journal Philosophy of Management and he serves as the editor for the Ruffin Series in Business Ethics from Oxford University Press.

Geert DEMUIJNCK

Professor of Business Ethics at EDHEC Business School. He joined the school in 2008. He teaches courses in business ethics, economic ethics and philosophy. His research and publications focus on business ethics, economic ethics and political philosophy. He studied philosophy, economics, and politics and holds a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Leuven. At the AC in Lille in 2014, he was elected for the EBEN Executive Committee. Vice-président - Responsable du Pôle Recherche du Cercle d’Ethique des Affaires (Paris) - Editorial board member of Business & professional ethics journal (Chicago), Ethical Perspectives (Leuven), Ethique Economique – Ethics and Economics (Versailles). Consultancy work for Auchan, Trois Suisses, Orange, external advisory board of KBC Bank.

Ketill Berg MAGNÚSSON

Has taught Business Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility at undergraduate and masters levels at Reykjavík University in Iceland for more than 20 years. He is also a manager of Human Resources at Marel Iceland, a global producer of high-tech equipment for the food industry. He has over 10 years of experience as a human resources manager and as a management consultant. Kettle has performed various confidential duties, such as board of directors of associations, professional associations and companies. Ketill holds an MBA from ESADE in Barcelona 2008, MA in Philosophy with a specialization in Business Ethics from the University of Saskachewan in Canada 1997 and a BA from the University of Iceland in 1993. He was Managing Director of Festa, a company on corporate social responsibility, for many years. He has served as chairman of boards and a board member of many NGOs and is currently a member of the International advisory board of the school law of Kozminski University in Poland.

Victor Raul LOPEZ RUIZ

Economist, political scientist specialist and sociologist. Professor of Econometrics to the Department of Spanish and International Economics, Econometrics and History and Economic Institutions of the University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM). He has been teaching continuously since 1993 at the Faculty of Economic and Business Sciences of Albacete. Researcher in Applied Economics Management, Valuation and Measure of Intangible Assets in the Companies, and Intangible Capitals at local and international level. He is Director of Intellectual Capital Research Group. Trainer and Coach in: Information Systems for Management; Management and Modelling for Real Scenario Simulation; Business forecasting and analysis; Political Systems, Sociology, humanism. Follower of Cervantes and writer in his free time. Columnist and blogger with #LaHormiga: El Secreto del Hormiguero, current socio-political economic issues. Collaborator in The Conversation.

Steven ROSEFIELDE

Professor of Economics at the University of North Carolina (with a Ph.D. from Harvard), and a member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences. He is currently an Adjunct Professor of National Security Affairs of Southwest Missouri State University, and has been actively involved in economic systems and global security research for decades with the American, Russian, Swedish and Japanese governments. He is currently completing four books: 1. Comparative Economic Systems (text), 2. Global Destabilization: Restratification of Wealth and Power (treatise on systems and future international security), 3. The Golden Age of Soviet Despotism (Gulag/Excess Deaths/ Future Russian Authoritarianism), 4. Forgotten Superpower (Russia’s Military-Economic Revitalization). Undergraduate and graduate courses deal with these and other related themes including the economic systems of Continental Europe, America, Japan, Russia, China, and Korea.

Mauro ROMANELLI

Assistant Professor of Organization studies at University of Naples Parthenope, Department of Business and Economics, Italy. He is member of academic and professional associations such as Egos, Euram, Irspm, Assioa, BS-Lab, ItAis, Icto.

He was visiting scholar at SNSPA, Faculty of Management in Bucharest, Romania. His research interests are: organizational change and human resource management within public administration and organizations, employment relationships, regulation and organization, ethics and organization within public administration; the role of information and communication technologies within public organizations and administration, parliaments, museums, big data, intellectual capital, cultural heritage and healthcare organizations: management, organization and governance aspects; hybrid organizations, social and rural entrepreneurship, urban innovation, smart and sustainable cities and communities social, economic and digital ecosystems, e-governance, e-government, e-healthcare, smart communities and knowledge sharing, ICTs for sustainable peace and value co-creation.

Adriana GRIGORESCU

Professor of management at NUPSPA since 2003 and Correspondent Member Academy of Romanian Scientists Department IX of Economic, Legal and Sociological Sciences, is Ph.D. Supervisor at Valahia University from Targoviste Doctoral School, Member of National Council for Attestation of University Titles, Diplomas and Certificates (CNATDCU), Evaluator of The Romanian Agency for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ARACIS). With a multidisciplinary education (Bachelor in Chemistry-Physics and Commerce-Marketing, Master of Modern Governance and European Integration and Ph.D. in Accounting she is teaching courses of Project Management and Marketing for Public Sector. Researcher in comparative analysis and diagnosis, forecasting and integrated systemic studies, knowledge transfer from business to public, education and labor management is holding the position of General Director of Global Economy and Governance Interdisciplinary Platform. She is President of Holistic Research Academic Association (HoRA), Editor in Chief of HOLISTICA Journal of Business and Public Administration and starting with 2020 President of EBEN-Romania. .
